August/September flower update

This has been a banner year for most flowers.  The dahlias are blooming like crazy and are available in a bunch, bouquet or a mixed color bucket.  Mixed color bucket needs to be pre-ordered with 24 hours notice.   The sunflowers are blooming nicely as well and we will have them right into September.  We will be open until Sept 17th.  Come get some flowers before the season is over.
Here is one of our weekly mason jar designs.

Caring for your Peony Flowers

Just thought I would remind everyone on how to care for their peony flowers at home.  One of the most important things to remember is that Cut flowers should not be left in vehicles to get overheated.  It is always best to take your flowers directly home.

There is lots of advise about flower care but this is what I find works for me.  Always re cut your stems.  I would suggest a good inch off and cut at an angle.  This gives lots of surface area for water uptake.

Peonies drink a lot of water everyday.  Use the flower food package included with your bouquet or bunch.  This helps to keep the water clean, improves water uptake and has some food for the flowers to properly open.   Everyday top up the water.  It is very important to keep the vase full.  You will be amazed how this effects vase life.  Also make sure that no leaves get in the water.  This will cause the water to spoil really quickly.  If this happens please take stems out of the water and give them a fresh cut.  Then put flowers into a clean vase with new water.

Last note.  Cut flowers do not like direct sunlight. Position them in your home away from any windows that the sun comes through.

Enjoy your flowers.  I will post on Instagram and Facebook this week what colors are still available.  We are just starting to pick some of the late varieties.  I hope to have peonies available until the first weekend in June?
