Winter clean up and planting

Now that the Flower season is done, we move onto all the fall planting and cleaning up.  Last week we were busy planting some new Peonies.  275 more plants were added to the Peony Patch.  I just got them in before the heavy rains started.  They should be super happy in their new homes.   We will have to wait until their second year to enjoy some flowers, but they will be spectacular.

It is truly amazing that these roots become such beautiful plants.

Here are the new varieties added this year, Coral Charm, Coral Sunset, Duchesse De Nemours, Feliz Crousse, and Red Charm.  I am now up to 12 Varieties in the Peony Patch.

The garden if full of lovely blooms

This good weather has been a bonus for the flowers.  They needed this extra sunshine to really get going.  The garden is also starting to bring on some lovely fall items as well, such as seed pods and berries.

Look at the texture in this bouquet.
The Zinnias are finally at their cheery best!
We are part of the Langley Studio Arts tour Sept 22-23 and Sept 29-30.  Lots of great studios and things to see.  Come pick up a map or go online to

I am back and filling the cooler.

We had a great vacation and it was great to see lots of flowers as we rolled down the driveway yesterday.  The delphiniums are blooming nicely and  there are lots of sunflowers.  The dahlias are still not as productive as they should be and some are still not in bloom, but  I am busy filling the cooler with lots of bouquets and bunches.  Hope to see you soon.

Florist and Garden on Holidays!

I will be away on holidays until Sept 13 th.  The gift shop is still open but there will be no bouquets or bunches and the garden is closed until I return.  We both need a little break.

Here is one of the many creations that went out this week.  I really enjoyed this challenge.  I think I need my own Milk jug. This one was supplied by the client.   Any one have one they are willing to part with?

Township 7 Winery Art in the Vines

A busy few days ahead as I get ready for the "Art in the Vines" at Township 7 Winery.  I love being part of this Event.  It is lots of fun and I get to meet lots of new and regular customers.  I will have my booth full of Flowers.  This is happening this Sunday and here is the link to the event page.

Here are some creations for the garden.  Look at this Dahlia.  I am really loving some of my new larger flowered ones.  I hope they are productive and make the cut for a permanent spot in the garden.  This is Fern cliff Copper.

Look at the lovely pinks.  I do so love pink.  Front and center is Pink Gingham.  A bit on the lavender scale but still great.  I am still on the quest for the perfect hot or bright pink dahlia.  Anyone have a suggestion?
Maybe I will see you on Sunday.  Also check out my Face book albums.  Lots of new pictures for August.

The garden is almost at full Bloom.

A few more flowers making the picking list this week.  Snapdragons both Red and White available for picking or pre-picked bunches.  Blue and Purple hydrangeas are also starting to be picked.  These are available pre-picked only.

Here is one of our Designer's Choice bouquets for you to place in your own vases.  This is a great economical way to fill your own vases for a special event.  These need to be pre-ordered.

Look at the color of this one.  A new Dahlias called Jammin Jelly.  Grape Jelly in a vase.
Finally the next batch of sunflowers is starting to bloom.  This one is called Solar Power.  Love it!
The garden dahlias are doing well and we had a good pick this morning.  We will now be taking picking appointment for the garden.  If you are interest, please give me a call.

Glads and Sunflowers.

Finally some more flowers.  Both the Glads and the Sunflowers are a good 10 days later than normal.  I was finally able to pick a full wagon this morning.  That being said the Dahlias are also late so it looks like they still need a good week before any good picking can happen.

Here is one the creations that went out last week.  I was really pleased with this.  I loved the Mauve glads and they needed to go to a special event.

This is the sunflower that we are currently picking.  A luscious double with a green center that opens to black.   Solar power, a painted gold and Valentine, a lemon yellow are just showing color and I should have some picked for the weekend.
Other flowers just staring are the Callas.  A limited assortment that I will be using in bouquets this week.  Calla Bunches will be starting next week.  The sweet peas are doing well but I am only picking every second day so reserve your bunch so you will not be disappointed.

Busy Busy Week!

It has been a busy busy week here on the Farm.  Lots of picking and lots of watering.  We have been going through a lot of flowers.  There are just a few sunflower bouquets available and then the next batch will be in about a week.  There are a limited amount of Dahlias out of the hoop house and the field patch should be ready to start picking in about a week as well.  Sweet peas are sold out  for about a week.  It is that season.  Lots of weddings and special events.  I will start picking the antique white hydrangea "Annabelle" for this week end, so there will be bunches available.  Also the Lavender is ready for bunching.

Here are some lovely bouquets.  Love the orange echinacea.  I definitely need more of this one.
I almost forgot snapdragons.  We just started picking so limited, but exceptional.  These are the Chantilly Type.  New this year.  Again should have planted more!  Red and White should be available very soon.
If you are wanting something in particular this week, please give me a call to check availability.
There is also a new section on the Blog specifically about the U-Pick Garden.  This will open in August.  I am also starting to offer Pre-picked Buckets of Flowers and Greens.  Check out the new Album on Facebook.

The flowers are loving the sunny weather.

I have been really enjoying creating with Daisies.  We are currently picking Double, fringed and single types.  Daisies are such a cheerful flower.  Wouldn't you agree?

The dahlias are from the greenhouse and I am picking a bit each day.

Here are some of my petite posies.  These are so much fun to do with all the little bits from the garden.

The field dahlia are growing strong with some buds already showing.  I will start picking the first batch of sunflowers this week as well.  There are even a few calla showing themselves and the snapdragons are sending up there flower spikes.  It looks like I will be opening the garden for picking in a week or so.

Ah!! the sun is shining.

It felt like I was in Ireland this morning. Misty rain coming down and low clouds.  But alas the sun is peeking through the clouds and tomorrow will be a better day.  Farming is definitely not for the easily discouraged.  The garden is slowly progressing.  So what's next?  Lots.  Especially after a few sunny days.  The Foxgloves are perfect for picking as well as daisies, Astilbe, and Yarrow.  The later blooming delphiniums are also  ready for picking.  The dahlia planted in the hoop houses are covered in buds and I actually was able to do my first Dahlia bouquet today.   Unfortunately my Asiatic lily crop has been a complete failure so there will be none of these.  There are so many things in bud right know that the garden will be bursting with color very shortly.

What a beautiful creation this is.  All different shades of pink using Foxglove, roses, Astilbe, yarrow and alstroemeria.   My rose garden is very new so limited stems this year.  It just makes each rose that much more special.

A bonus from the cool weather.

At least there is one good thing about this cool weather, I am still picking peonies.  If you have not had some of these stunning flowers, this is your last week.  The Delphiniums are holding well too so at least one more week for them.

Is that enough pink for you.  More pictures in the June Face book album.

Delphiniums and Peonies.

A match made in Heaven! The dreamy blues and purples with soft shell pink.  I had a great pick of Sarah B last night so I am well stocked for the week.  There is a few reds available and a good supply of the two pinks.  The Delphiniums are just at their peak with all sorts of colours.  I have some stunning bunches pre-picked ready to go home with you.

I just got a new batch of Serenity soaps for the shop.   Serenity Soaps are hand crafted with carefully selected ingredients.  These soaps are made with a lot of Love.  The selection of scents is amazing.  Some old favourites and some new ones for you to enjoy.  I want one of each to take into the house.

Lots of Peonies!

We are right in the middle of Peony season with a good selection of Red and Pink and some White.  I should have a first pick of Sarah B this evening.  So lots of variety right now.  Remember Peonies are only here for a short time so do not delay.

This Bouquet could be gracing your home!

Peonies just starting.

We need a bit more sun to really bring on the Peonies, but there are a few Peony bouquets available.  I hope to have a good pick before the weekend.  I thought I would tempt you with this classic Blue and White Bouquet.  Make sure to check out the June Flower Album on my Face book page to see more Bouquets and garden pictures.  The link is to the left of the blog.
Here is my Design of the Week.  I have never used Poppies as a cut so I thought I would give it a try.  they do need some special treatment and hopefully it works.  You cannot beat this vivid color combination.

I hope to see you soon!

More spring flowers.

There has been lots of beauties out in the garden this week. I so love doing up the mixed garden bouquets. The Lupins are still going strong and I have lots of bouquets ready to go.
Isn't this iris just beautiful. I am so amazed at the intricate pattern that each flower has. My collection is always growing and I have many new ones just coming into bud. We will be enjoying them for a few weeks.
I have just started picking a few peonies. My Red charm plants are doing well and so far I have been able to fill some custom orders with them. Very soon there will be peony bouquets a plenty.
